Product Info
Badia di Morrona, Tuscany
This is a very special bottle of Sangiovese and one for the cellar, or for those occasions when you want to open something truly memorable.
Vigna Alta is made from 100% Sangiovese at the historic Badia di Morrona estate in Tuscany. It has the character we love in great Tuscan Sangiovese: beautifully fragrant with redcurrant, cherry and wild cherry, with subtle sweet spice and earthy forest-floor notes developing underneath.
On the palate it is full-bodied and beautifully structured, with juicy fruit, freshness and a dense, polished tannic backbone. It has plenty of presence without feeling heavy, and the long maturation gives it a lovely sense of depth and integration. The wine spends time in large 2,500-litre French oak casks before a minimum of 24 months in bottle, allowing the fruit, oak and tannins to come together before release.
This is not an everyday red. It is the bottle you reach for when the food is special, the company is good and you have time to enjoy it. Think slow-roasted beef, Tuscan-style roasts, wild game or a long Italian dinner around the table.
A beautiful choice for the cellar, and a wine worth saving for a special occasion. Very limited availability, only a few cases available in NZ
