A beautiful expression of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s historic wine estates, Barone Ricasoli. Colledilà is a single-vineyard wine from Gaiole in Chianti, made entirely from Sangiovese grown at around 380 metres on the calcareous clay soils characteristic of the area.
The 2021 vintage has received outstanding international recognition, including 97 points from Wine Spectator, which placed it among their Top 100 Wines of 2024, along with 96+ points from Robert Parker Wine Advocate.
In the glass, expect ripe dark cherry, raspberry and pomegranate, with the freshness and savoury character that makes Sangiovese such a wonderful partner for food. There is a lovely mineral and graphite quality running through the wine, finishing with a subtle salty, savoury note and fine structure.
This is a serious Chianti Classico, but one that is made to be enjoyed at the table. Think slow-cooked beef, wild boar, Tuscan-style pasta, aged pecorino or simply a long Italian lunch with good friends.
